Morristown Youth Football Launches 8‑Man High School Team for 2025 Season

Morristown, IN – July 15, 2025 – Morristown Youth Football (MYF), a community-based football program established in 2021, is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever 8‑man high school football team, providing an exciting opportunity for local students in grades 9–12 to continue playing competitive football.

The Yellow Jackets will open their inaugural season on August 23 at Waldron, and host their first home game on September 6 against Rock Creek Academy. The full season schedule is available at morristownfootball.org.

“We are beyond excited to offer this opportunity to our high school athletes,” said Greg Worton, President of Morristown Youth Football. “This is more than just football—this is about building something positive for the youth in our town. We started this program in 2021 with a dream, and now we’re giving our older players a chance to lead, compete, and represent Morristown with pride.”

Head Coach Josh O’Meara, who has been an integral part of MYF’s youth development, brings experience and leadership to the high school squad. “We’ve built strong fundamentals through years of youth programs,” said Coach O’Meara. “Now, we’re ready to take that foundation to the next level—this team will focus on discipline, skill development, and forging a real sense of community on and off the field.”

Coach O’Meara is joined by Kevin Amburgey (Defensive Coordinator), Jon Dooley (Offensive Coordinator) and Assistant Coaches Connor Brown and Matt Worton , who together bring a player-first, fundamentals-driven approach to the team.

The 8‑man football format, designed for smaller teams, emphasizes speed, strategy, and open-field execution while preserving the intensity and structure of traditional football. It’s a growing format across the Midwest, especially in tight-knit communities where roster sizes are smaller but the passion is just as strong.

Since its founding in 2021, MYF has provided free football programming for grades K–8, and now proudly expands that mission to include high school athletes. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the organization is entirely volunteer-run and funded by donations and sponsorships. All equipment, uniforms, and program costs are covered by community support—ensuring that no athlete is left on the sidelines due to cost.
